Decide what the clip is about

The same round can become a play highlight or a funny conversation. Choose the purpose before trimming. For a play, preserve the action and round context; for dialogue, preserve the setup and reactions.

Do not describe events that the source does not show. Titles and captions should match the recording rather than promise a different outcome.

Keep the necessary landmarks

Check the crosshair, opponent, surroundings and relevant interface elements in a vertical crop. Scale proportionally and select a region instead of stretching the picture.

Listen to footsteps, shots and voice chat together. Suppressing game audio too heavily can remove the reason behind a decision. Abrupt volume changes between segments are noticeable too.

Review motion, not just a still

Watch the entire clip. A quick turn can move the action outside a vertical window. Adjust the layout when the automatic crop does not fit.

End after a clear result or reaction. Check map names and gaming terms in captions; transcription often needs an edit on those words.
